Aldo Cibic mega-structure at the Milan Design Week 2018

From the collaboration between Abet Laminati, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of decorative laminates, and SAIB, a leading manufacturer in Italy of raw and melamine faced particleboard used for furnishing purposes, a new project solution for interior design arises, Diplos.

On the occasion of the FuoriSalone 2018, for the Interni HOUSE IN MOTION exhibition (April 16 – 28), Diplos will be presented for the first time within the installation “Colors on the move” by Aldo Cibic. A geometric mega-structure comes to grips with the soft forms of the arches of the beautiful Chiostro del Settecento. “It is a big table,” the designer explains, “that is transformed into the roof of a work of architecture. It is apparently a lively composition made of volumes with different forms, sizes and colors. Actually, it is a sort of ammonite: the curved red wall that welcomes you turns out to be a spiral that lures you inside and allows you to discover an unexpected space.”

Concretely, the installation is conceived as a path which can allow the visitors to have a sensory, visual and tactile experience of vibrant hues and surfaces from the Diplos collection – a new selection of materials resulting from the combination between the high quality and strength of Print Hpl by Abet Laminati and the innovative faced chipboard panel by Saib.

By exploring the installation “Colors on the move”, it will be possible to observe and touch the wide range of decors and finishes characterizing the surfaces, based on the distinctive traits of materials. Visitors will be able to feel and discover the substantial Root finish, the innovative Aquarama and Dharma finishes, and the new decorative patterns that suggest wood and fabrics, just to name a few.
