French startup GAYA raises 2M euros in funding with ambition of becoming favourite electric bicycle brand among urban families

GAYA, the specialist electric bicycle brand for urban families, has raised 2 million euros from Via ID and Karmen — a welcome boost to help the company expand its footprint in France and across Europe, and relocate production to France.

GAYA is a mission-driven company founded in 2021 by Amélie Guicheney and Jacques Bonneville. In less than nine months, the project first initiated in the 10th arrondissement of Paris has already appealed to more than 1,000 city-dwellers.

 

The founders’ ambition was to introduce a new mobility concept based on an affordable cargo bicycle developed specifically to make the lives of urban families easier. Customisable to individual requirements, it provides the necessary peace of mind for regular in-city usage. The GAYA bike can accommodate several riders and comes with all the signal equipment and comfort features of a motor scooter, with the addition of a remote security system.
